New year, new me. A phrase that we’ve all heard way too many times. So many times, in fact, that it barely makes sense anymore. Especially in business environment, these phrases are mostly just annoying –as if you weren’t doing your best the year before, right? Besides, setting unrealistic expectations for ourselves or our surroundings may often end up being a big disappointment, because life just tends to go as it pleases, and not as we ideally picture it. But don’t lose hope — we are bringing you a few tips for realistic professional resolutions that are sure to help you rock those KPI’s in 2023.
Work smarter, not harder
And what hides under this generic smart saying? In my humble opinion, it’s revisions. Making budget cuts to save money and optimize finances can only do so much, so if you really want to “work smarter”, it’s good to look into your workflows and management processes, maybe see if some parts of your business could benefit from upgraded technologies or automatization. It all starts with identifying blind spots and bottlenecks, and coming up with ways to eliminate them. Tackling these issues head on will eventually also lead to enabling your employees to reach their full potential, which — ultimately — is one of the main goals of every business.
Consolidate and upgrade your software
This step comes hand-in-hand with the first resolution. Is it at all possible that you might be using an outdated software, just out of pure habit (or laziness!), but an upgrade could bring you meaningful value in improved processes, speed and efficiency? Do your homework and research project management tools and other useful apps that can make your daily life significantly easier. A transition to a new (or upgraded) tool is usually difficult for employees, so once you make the decision, also make sure to train your people to the fullest and make sure you communicate the reasons why the upgrade is necessary.
Make work easier by providing the best available tools and you’ll be seeing the fruits of your efforts soon enough.

Schedule work-free time
You might be surprised that we are advising you to not work in order to be more efficient — but that’s exactly right. Taking time off to reflect, absorb information, educate yourself or even go for a walk or have a nap, is proven to boost your productivity. If you’re still skeptical, check out the studies and their results mentioned in this article. Resting, taking time off and focusing on other things regularly will go a long way for your efficiency and productivity, both at work and anywhere else.
I’m hoping that this short and to-the-point list has brought you some inspiration for ’23 and that both you and your company will soon be reaping the fruits of great management decisions. Here’s to 2023 being an outstanding year for managing projects and reaching business goals.
